Sacks

If a Quarterback gets tackled when he drops back to pass behind the Line of Scrimmage before he can throw the ball, this is called a sack. DEs, LBs and SFs are able to create sacks. They need a lot of speed to do so, and of course they need to break the blocking of the Offense Line. There are formations like Shotgun, where FBs can help the QB by blocking and allow him to avoid getting sacked.
A QB can try to escape from the blitzing player by outrunning him with speed.
