Happy new year to everyone, and welcome to Season 69.

The number 69 can be liked for a variety of reasons, we'll settle for the outlook of an interesting season that will go down in history as the one when we became seriously competitive

But first let's see what the coming draft has in store for us

Being competitive and constantly getting better has its downsides, too, as it throws a wrench in the whole well thought out drafting process. It hurts to see all these great players go to teams that are not even set up to be relevant in the coming season. But these challenges are the same for every good team, so we won’t cry too much about that. Especially since we approached the draft this time with a different mind-set and are willing to experiment a little.

The first round of the Draft brought Ewald Schneider (formerly known as Billy Kosgei Kipkorir) to the squad. He is one slippery dude, and the plan is to develop him into a hybrid player to play different roles in the offensive system that the OC is trying to set up.

In the second round the Devil Dolphins picked Oriol Esteller, a defensive player who was a Track star in High School. He is still very young, but also very bright and has A LOT of talent. He will be given time to develop behind the strong defensive first stringers, but we’re sure that he will be a force in the future, too.

Our third round choice was Camilo Martí, another promising defensive player with great vision and breathtaking speed. He’ll need to wait a bit to see some playing action, though, as he lacks some skills to contribute. But he’s still very young, too, so there’s a lot of potential to transform him into a great player.

All three players will get some playing time today as we end the preseason with a game against the BobBoy Magpies. And then we’ll start into the next campaign and are eager to see where it’ll take us. The first truly competitive opponent will be the Long Island Islanders on Game Day 3, which is a fascinating match-up as they won’t have forgotten that we won our last game in the Wildcard Round last season.

With Guinness Drinkers U joining the Broncos AC South division it looks like it's going to be a very interesting season.
Good luck to all this season.

The AC South is quite the powerhouse division this season, yes

For the Devil Dolphins today the season starts for real as we have our first encounter against a serious competitor. And we return to the place of our greatest triumph to date, as we visit the Islanders on the Long Islands of Scotland where we celebrated our first playoff win last season. And for the first time ever we enter a game as the #1 in our division, which is a nice touch also Let's see if we can continue our path to greatness... or stumble on the very first opportunity

Have a good game today, everyone

What a mind blowing game that was yesterday:

The Islanders started with a 56 Yard Kickoff Return, but then fumbled on the our 27 Yard line. They got the ball back on the very next play when the QB of the Devil Dolphins threw the rock right to the CB of the home team, who scored a Pick6 after 1 minute and 47 seconds being played. With 3:36 to go in Q1 the DE of the Dolphins brought down the FB in the endzone, scoring a Safety. On the ensuing possession the the QB of the Devil Dolphins threw another Interception, from which the Islanders scored a TD, and on the first play of the first possession in the second quarter the Dolphins QB threw his 3rd interception. The QB of the Islanders returned the favor right away, though, from which the Dolphins were able to score their first Touchdown. When the Quarter was halfway through it came the other way around, with the Dolphins QB throwing his 4th Interception and the Islanders scoring off of it. The Dolphins closed the first half with a missed Field Goal from 33 Yards out, and the score was 21:9.

But then the Devil Dolphins from last postseason showed up again and shut down the offense of the home team in the second half, only letting them score one Field Goal. The defense of the Devil Dolphins allowed only 3 First Downs until late in Q4, even scored a Pick6 themselves in Q3. The offense added 3 Touchdowns of their own, playing mostly clean football after the break (the QB had another INT in Q3 that led to the FG). And thus the Islanders were outscored 28:3 in the second half, which led to a final score of 37:24 in favor of the visiting team (us!).

So the Devil Dolphins start 3–0 into this season, but there’s still a lot to fix. You don’t win games in which you throw 5 interceptions all that often, so we need to find ways to reign the QB in a bit more. But the defense is working pretty good already, we even have our first 4*-Players on the D-Line now… so the trend continues to go into the right direction

Half of the regular season games are in the books for the Devil Dolphins, and we have entered a stretch of 3 competitive games yesterday with a loss against the Alaskan Gold Miners. It wasn't the most crushing defeat, though, as we were close until late in the fourth quarter. Unfortunately our starting QB then got hurt and the back-up threw an interception on his first play from scrimmage. We were down 3 points then, maybe a rushing play would have been more clever... but there can be made strong arguments for trying to pass, too. The Gold Miners scored a TD from this pick and that was all she wrote.

The next games will tell a lot more about the Devil Dolphins. We may be 7–1 at this point in the season, but had only 2 competitive games up until now. The next game will be against schönspieler, after that we'll visit the Dolphins Pisa. And of course on the back-end of the schedule two meetings with the Litany Zone still wait for us. All these match-ups have playoff implications as they are against conference opponents. We have to be focused... maybe then we have a chance of surprising the big guys once more
