We get a little breather today after another heavy beating at the Litany Zone, where the squad did not even get to score a TD. They did go home on Saturday not that devastated, as they did put up quite a fight in the first quarter of each half. More importantly they did not turn the ball over once, just in the end when the game was far out of reach, but even that was a turnover on downs. The one person that was not too happy with the game was the Kicker, as the OC did not seem to have the biggest confidence in his abilities and thus let two chances for a FG go by, opting for the Punt instead.
So the Devil Dolphins have the chance to add a win to their record today against an opponent they should put away in front of their fans, before they visit another heavy hitter on Thursday, as they have a meeting with the Alaskan Gold Miners coming up. Good luck for everyone today  |

The travel to Alaska and the acclimatization was smooth for the Devil Dolphins, as the weather was pretty much the same when they left the plane. But even though they may be accustomed to bad weather football, no one really expects great things from the squad today. To underscore that point the head coach already told the media that a few players will be getting playing time that had not played much this season. Some attendees of the press conference were offended by that, openly asking if the Devil Dolphins throw this game away on purpose. But the HC told them right away that games like this are in fact a great opportunity to gather experience for the young players, and that the gameplan still will put the team in the best possible position to make plays. So maybe we will see some surprising action today.
After that the Devil Dolphins are on their bye, and while the players may enjoy their free time, the HC and his coordinators will revisit their first 6 games of the season to see what worked in the newly set up playbook and what did not and then rework the playbook accordingly. After their bye they have 3 winnable games coming up before they visit the Creator... maybe they've figured out something special until then. Good luck for everyones games today |

The bye-week has been busy for the Devil Dolphins, as a lot of time was invested in making the game plan tighter and improve the team. The last league match-up before the bye was a surprisingly close encounter at the Alaskan Gold Miners, and some useful insights were gathered from this game. The head coach told the media that some changes in the offensive line showed a lot of improvement in blocking the opponents front line, and switching some defensive arrangements made life hard for the Gold Miners attack. Beyond that Richard Sinapati, former second string QB, showed enough poise to earn the starting job in the coming games, and even 20yo QB Jiang Ang was able to lead the offense to their second TD, thus outplaying the previous starter Pavel Karpov in this regard, too.
But not only did the playing personell use the bye-week for improvement. The scouts did find two unique and promising players that the Devil Dolphins were able to add to their roster, a very talented LB named Smash Guy and a promising TE-talent by the name of Dez Troyer. Both still need time to develop, but as they both are only 18 years old and in the early stages of their careers they will be forces to be reconned with once they hit their prime. Todays opponent, the Orcinus Orca, also comes off the bye-week, and one would assume that they used it to an equal extend to get better like those responsible for the Devil Dolphins did. But the Fun Arena will be packed with excited visitors who are curious to see what the hard work from the past few days led to. Let’s hope they won’t go home after the game all too disappointed. Today the Devil Dolphins have the chance to get to .500 again for the first time since week 2 of this season. To do so they must win at the BALLERS, although that might be one of the easier tasks this season as the opponent is in a state of not being led by any manager. It would tell far more about the inabilities of the Devil Dolphins if they lose this game than about the abilities of the home team.
And because those responsible in the Devil Dolphins organisation are confident with their squad, their youngest QB, Jiang Ang, will be leading the charge in this game. Richard Sinapati will get limited playing time and with that the possibility to study his last game against the Orcinus Orca. Two Interceptions do make it seem that he did not play the best game, but overall he was in good control of what was happening. It was just unfortunate that the WRs were not able to catch the rock when he threw it at them, with 13 pass attempts resulting in dropped balls. They will get another chance to do better coming Saturday, when the Schönspieler-Squad comes to town. And maybe they use today as another exercise session to hone their skills, thus be better prepared for the games when they really need to step up. Good luck for your games, everyone |

The first 8 games of the season are behind the Devil Dolphins, with their bye-week in between, and they have a record of 4 wins, 4 losses. Today they come home after a friendly game against league opponent Markham Blues AFC1, and they were able to come off this game with their second win against human competition this season, the first one being their second preseason game against the Jailhouse Rockers. Lucky reporters were able to get manager marti_fx, whom they met at 20:42 p.m. talking to fans over a beer, to speak on the record about his experiences since becoming a manager in this league:
„To be honest, I was a little disappointed at first, when we started our tenure with this franchise, because of the competition we were confronted with. I’d have thought that there would be more Football teams that are led reasonable. What we have is a very close circle of elite teams that battle for the title in each season and a lot of these managers are very experienced. Then there are those few that try to disrupt that circle, those that enjoy the game for just being what it is and those that are new and must catch up. The gap, though, for those mentioned last to catch up is pretty steep, though. Coming from managing another Football team over in the RZA-leagues and being pretty successful there, it’s for sure an unfamiliar situation to be in, thinking about beating certain teams not in the next game or the second game next season, but in maybe 4 seasons time. And thus think about a playoff game at home as early as in maybe 4 seasons time. It’s a lot of patience that is required here, even to get to a point where you are even remotely competitive. But I feel we are on a pretty good path, though. Winning against the Markham Blues AFC1 today was nice, as we showed progress since we last played them. And that’s what I like the most about this league, at least at this point in time, now that we are nearly 2 full seasons in (*the Devil Dolphins joined the league in Week 10 of S66 – the editor*): The possibilities to fast-develop players is amazing. It may be that this just the experience of taking over training duties all by myself for the first time, but I just now recognized how much influence training has on roster building and development. And playing a lot of teams with no real management to gather team chemistry and experience is neat. So we are at a point now that we do have fighting chances against established teams, like we even showed in the league at the Alaskan Gold Miners in Week 6. This is nice and shows that we are on the right track. It still needs a lot of time, though, to fight them big guys. And if I am to be honest: Winning a title in this here league with these managers, who not only dominate this league, but play for the title in the RZA-Elite each season, too, will only be possible if they somehow lose interest in winning or quit altogether… or over a long stretch of time where we constantly improve and ourselves not lose passion to get there despite the impression of it being impossible. So we’ll see. For now we’re curious if a 10–6 record, that we are hope to have at the end of the season, will be enough for a postseason appearance. It may come down to Point Differential in the end, though. But even then… seasons are coming and going so fast in this league, and we’ll be even better in S69… which is a great number in and off itself, by the way.“ And with that the manager asked to be left alone. The Devil Dolphins had a huge home win yesterday as they dismantled the visiting schönspieler, scoring 79 points while only allowing the opponent to score a FG late in the 4th quarter. So they started their second half of the season with a statement win, this way gathering important points to boost this point differential, which most likely will become crucial in the race for a postseason appearance.
The training session went well today, and not only was no one injured, but promising players for key positions came back from injury as well. Maybe we can keep our Mojo for the next game, too, an away game at the Creator… which will be one of two really tough games at the back end of our schedule, the second one being the Litany Zone in Week 15… although they have to come to us then, and we do perform good at home. Tonight the Devil Dolphins have a visit at the Creator, where they will very likely not score a lot of points, instead show respect and gratitude for this world he made for us and help him get enough points for a successful postseason push.
For the Devil Dolphins this may be the one chance to separate from the wildcard contenders in the conference, though, by stealing points when no one expects it. And the manager was confident when asked about the outcome of the game this morning: „We’d be foolish to think we’ll win at The Stadium. But I heard the coordinators and the head coach talking about the individual match-ups that may come up in the game, and it is not out of the realm of possibilities that we get chances to score… we just have to use them, while not giving him too many chances to score himself. It’ll be tough, but we’ll see.“ Good luck for everyone today |

The Devil Dolphins had another tough lesson to learn in their game at the Creator, as they had the ball taken away 3 times in the first quarter alone. They stopped turning the ball over for two quarters after that and even were able to score a touchdown in each of these. But the Defense was hardly able to stop the opponent, and in the fourth quarter the squad seemed to have run out of gas, succumbing to the fact that this was too big of an opponent again. The loss will hurt even more as it cost a lot of points that will be missed badly in the playoff hunt.
The remaining schedule of the Devil Dolphins now is pretty smooth sailing, with the only game that's serious competition being the upcoming second game against Litany Zone... although it will not be serious competition for the opponent, as they are unbeaten to this point and will very likely represent the AC Conference in the upcoming Bowl Game. So it's prep time for S69 already for us. There'll be put higher emphasis on training the coming weeks, the roster will be examined. Draft preparation is already in full swing. And maybe something happens on the Trade Market, as now would be a good point in time to acquire new players to have team chemistry grown enough in the coming season for them to be real contributors. But we're always watching the development of this seasons playoff hunt, too, as there is still a chance to get in... although we would have to make up at least one game and A LOT of points. Today the Habaneros enter the Fun Arena, and the Devil Dolphins will try to beat them as high as possible... and maybe get a few points, too
Meanwhile the offensive coordinating staff is already in the lab again, examining the past games about how the changes in the playbook that were made midseason affected the playing style. It was very apparent right away that some plays that were implemented still were too bold for the young and unexperienced squad to properly execute. And although the offense was able to move to and even past midfield for the majority of the drives, the playbook lacked solutions for clever movement between the 50 and the opposing redzone, resulting in some unfortunate turnovers that came back and negated all the effort taken. So even if it won't show that much on the field in the next few games, there's still action taken behind the scenes to become more competitive... and maybe it even will have a positive effect on a potential playoff appearance

The Devil Dolphins are attending another masterclass as the reigning and still unbeaten champion of the AC conference, Litany Zone, comes to town.
Despite the squad showing progress and is practicing with great effort, it would be foolish to think that we have a slight chance today. So we'll be picking up what there is to learn, use these findings to get better and someday be competitive enough to not just play against teams like the Zone, but even be able to keep up with them.
