I believe that we desperately need to improve tie-breaking procedures. Right now, its the team with the best PD score. However, that is largely based upon who played the most bots in the season.
This can have severe disadvantages if you play fewer bots and/or if you play a team before it goes bot and your divisional rivals play a team after it goes bot. Problem: The current tie breaker system ruins a lot of otherwise would be interesting playoff races, due to point differential being most often, a matter of "who has faced the most bot teams" exclusively. Adding +150 points per extra bot game, instantly erases even a fairly dominant season by another squad. Proposal: Continue using PD, but put a cap of around 28-30 points on it to reduce the effect of bot games. |
