All my forums were green with lots of old posts in them ( from 2019, 2021 etc)
I did a "mark all posts read" and the green went away but it is still saying (283) unread. |

Cleared cache and cookies etc but (283) is still there.
It doesn't seem to change if there are new posts, still says (283) |

Just for the record: I do not have this problem. I had all messages unread when you, Pete, reset the readcounter yesterday. But I have all messages marked "read" again since I executed this immediately afterwards and it did not come up again.

Yep, to me it seems it has something todo with their local browser. Funny: I have a tool to simulate ownership of users for support purposes. When I log into the "complainers" accounts, there is no such "unread messages" thing showing up. This means, the database itself is clean. And exactly this fact makes me believing that caching is an issue. However, the reports tell different, back to the code base ....

This seems crazy and totally illogical ... but ...
if you have the Forum setting:- "You would like to ignore forums not in english?: no" ... there are zero unread messages. However, toggle it from No to yes and there are 300+ unread messages.

I was applying a change. Please check again.
And yes, the change is to handle country forums in a better way when counting unread discussions. |

Problem solved, for the record I didn't change anything & never emptied the cache.
