In a season marked by tough divisional setbacks, the Devil Dolphins delivered a crucial statement of resilience at the Smash Troja stadium. After a gut-wrenching late equalizer by Ice Machine in the third quarter, the Dolphins refused to let their postseason hopes slip away. Faced with the pressure of securing a better playoff seed to avoid a premature rematch with the Alaskan Caribou, the team dug deep. This 24-17 win was more than just a notch in the standings; it was a vital moral victory that proves this squad still has the grit to compete when their backs are against the wall.
The spotlight late in the game shone brightly on veteran QB Romuald Schulz. In what is officially his farewell season, Schulz is playing with a "now or never" intensity. He showcased his veteran poise during a decisive four-minute drive in the fourth quarter, culminating in a high-stakes 4th-and-goal conversion to TE Prasit Brus. It was a vintage "closer" moment from a legend who clearly isn't ready to hang up his cleats without one last deep playoff run. However, the victory was only sealed when the defense stood tall against Ice Machine’s final desperate charge. As the clock ticked down, a massive sack by Casper Wattenwÿl pushed the visitors back, forcing a failed last-second heave into the endzone. With this win, the Dolphins keep their fate in their own hands: two more victories are needed to secure a favorable wildcard spot. The road ahead is steep, but as long as the Smash Troja fortress holds and Stover's arm remains steady, the hunt for the title continues. |

Only 2 days later it was a tough day at the office for the Devil Dolphins at Pope Pius Dome, where they fell 9-13 to Anno Domini in a grueling defensive slugfest. Despite a solid performance by the defensive unit, the offense struggled to find the endzone, relying solely on the leg of Alvin Papani for all nine points. This loss puts the Dolphins one game behind Ice Machine in the race for the #5 seed, but the playoff dream is far from over.
The math remains in Pinneberg's favor: while Ice Machine secured a win today, their final hurdle is the powerhouse Alaskan Caribou. If the Dolphins win their regular-season finale and Ice Machine falls, our superior point differential will catapult the Dolphins back into the #5 spot. The locker room remains focused and defiant — we have the easier path ahead, and we fully intend to capitalize on it to secure the best possible position for the Wildcard Round. |

As the Conference Championship games loom tomorrow, the Devil Dolphins find themselves in an uncharacteristically quiet locker room. This season was supposed to be the glorious "Last Dance" for our veteran signal-caller, Romuald Schulz. Entering the year, confidence was sky-high that we could push deep into the postseason. And give one of our franchise icons, who was drafted by the Dolphins in the first round in S71, the send-off he deserved. However, as the dust settles, we are left with the bittersweet realization that our biggest opponent wasn't always across the line of scrimmage, but rather the reality of life outside the stadium.
The Wildcard exit against the Alaskan Caribou is a particularly tough pill to swallow. Due to real-life commitments taking priority, we failed to lock in the optimal settings and roster for that crucial battle. Would a fully prepared Dolphins squad have marched out of Alaska with a victory? We will never truly know. But exiting the playoffs without having "given it our best shot" feels like a missed opportunity for a legend like Schulz. It’s a somber end to a remarkable career, but a reminder that even in the heat of competition, family and real-world responsibilities always come first. Now, a new era begins. As the league crowns its champions this weekend, we are already looking toward the horizon. The post-Schulz era officially starts now. We are heading back to the drawing board to build a future that honors the foundation Romuald laid down over the years. Thank you, Romuald, for every yard and every memory. The water might be a bit colder without our veteran leader, but the Devil Dolphins will be back—rested, regrouped, and ready to hunt again. |
